In America they want to block Tiktok?

This issue was first raised back in 2020 by Trump, but due to the pandemic, BLM protests and the looming presidential race, the idea was abandoned.

Now they have remembered this again, because TikTok is allegedly leaking the data of millions of American users to China. Civil servants in the United States have already been banned from using the social network, and the law called it a “Trojan horse of the Chinese communists.”

And yet, the US authorities cannot take and block TikTok on the territory of the country, as Russia easily did with Insta. Every month, TikTok is actively used by about 138 million residents of the United States, who will be too unhappy with the blocking of their favorite application. Young American guys under the age of 21 even use TikTok as a search engine.

What are the US authorities trying to achieve? They want the Chinese company ByteDance (owner of TikTok) to sell its assets to someone in the United States. Biden can put political pressure on him: demand a change of owner and threaten to ban him from working in the United States.

What are the options? The application may be removed from the AppStore and Google Play for American users, access to TikTok may simply be restricted so that Americans access it through a VPN, and there is also the possibility of creating an alternative platform. This may be why the Reels tab has become so popular. Nevertheless, one of the options remains to take TikTok under US control.
