Group of millionaires: “Inequality is eating the world alive”
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, a group of 200 millionaires spoke about the need to tax the rich. Disney heiress Abigail Disney said that despite all the talk about solving the world's problems, Davos forum participants refuse to discuss the only thing that can have a real impact on the world economy.
Meanwhile, legislators in 7 states, namely California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland and Washington, plan to introduce bills this week that would raise taxes on the rich.
Research shows that creating a federal wealth tax could generate more than $583 billion into the US budget, which could, for example, be used to nearly double education spending.
