Is it possible to come to the USA for treatment?

American consular officers may issue a visitor visa (B-2) to any foreigner who wishes to undergo medical treatment. We know that treatment in America is paid, and therefore the consul’s question is reasonable: who will pay for the treatment? Sometimes it can be expensive. Prepare and be prepared to submit the following documents:

• a letter from the attending physician in the country of permanent residence with a description of the disease, a prognosis for the further course of the disease, and a list of prescribed treatment procedures;

• a letter from the administration of an American hospital or a doctor confirming consent to provide appropriate medical care, accompanied by a calculation of the total cost of treatment and, if necessary, hospitalization. Letters must indicate the estimated duration of treatment required to stabilize the patient's condition;

• If the doctor or hospital agrees to pay for treatment, such intention must be confirmed in writing.

• It happens that a US permanent resident or citizen of the country agrees to pay for the treatment of a friend or relative. The consul will be satisfied with Form 1-134 Affidavit of Support, as well as documents from the bank, salary certificate, tax return for the previous year;

• if hospitalization is not required, the consul must be informed of the address for the period of treatment. Form I-134 additionally indicates the patient's possible residential address.

• in some cases, the consul may require a legally executed and notarized financial agreement between the hospital (or the attending physician) and the person intending to pay for the treatment.

Do not be upset if, without presenting all the specified documents, you are denied an entry visa to the United States.
