Nadya Tolokonnikova released 11 NTF works “Matriarchy Now”

Artist, political activist and feminist Nadya Tolokonnikova, together with legendary photographer Ellen von Unwerth and The Rolling Stone magazine, released 11 NTF works “Matriarchy Now” - a reflection on art and sexuality. The pictures depict an idyllic world where women, men and everyone else are equal. “In one day of filming with Ellen von Unwerth, I was teleported into a fairy tale with unicorns, fishing nets, latex and strong girls ruling the world with wit, wisdom and fun,” says Nadya. “We broke into a building under construction without warning, made friends with everyone there, we painted posters on the streets of New York and had a dominatrix tea party with men in latex who represented our tables, we swam in glitter and rode on inflatable emo unicorns. Matriarchy now."

NFT pictures of Nadya will be auctioned in New York - all proceeds will go to support women's reproductive rights. This is not Tolokonnikova’s first crypto project. Last year, she launched UnicornDAO, a cryptocurrency investment fund supporting female, non-binary and LGBTQ+ artists, and raised $4,5 million. Nadya also raised more than $7 million by launching an image of the Ukrainian flag at an NTF auction. All money went to provide medical care.

After all, life is an unpredictable thing: after being slapped with a double ticket for a performance and the hellish experience of a Russian prison, you can find yourself unbroken - in the lens of von Unwerth, hugging Madonna and being creative.
