43 states, 422 days, 33 pairs of sneakers: the modern Forrest Gump conquered the USA

At the end of 2016, 44-year-old Englishman Rob Pope began his grand journey across America: he decided to repeat the route of Forrest Gump from the film of the same name. In 2002, Pope's mother died, and before her death she asked her son to do something special and unusual. The man immediately realized what it would be.

In total, Pope traveled over 15 thousand miles (more than 24 thousand km). Before starting the journey, he shaved and ended it with a long beard - like Forrest. Rob endured extreme heat in Alabama and snow in Death Valley, but still made it to the end. During his exploit, Pope proposed to his girlfriend.

The man writes about all this in his book “Becoming Forrest - One Man's Epic Journey Across America.”
