Labradors gave way to French bulldogs: ranking of the most popular dog breeds in the USA
French bulldogs topped the list of dogs most often owned by Americans. This was reported by the American Kennel Club. Over the past 30 years, Labrador retrievers have been unrivaled; they have consistently taken first place. However, now US residents have begun to prefer “funny, friendly and loving dogs.”
In addition to Labradors and bulldogs, the top 10 most popular breeds included: golden retrievers, German shepherds, poodles, bulldogs, Rottweilers, beagles, dachshunds and German shorthaired pointers. The rarest dog breed in America is the English Foxhound.
