New York wants to ban captive elephants
Yesterday, Brooklyn City Council member Shahana Hanif presented the bill. Its essence is to prohibit keeping elephants in captivity. These large animals will need to have at least 15 acres of their own land. They will also not be shown to the public. If the law is passed, it will affect the Bronx Zoo. The elephants Happy and Patty live here on an area of 1 acre. In such conditions, animals simply suffer.
