Kiss will perform a farewell concert at Madison Square Garden

It's time to say goodbye to iconic rock band Kiss as band members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley announced their final shows will take place at Madison Square Garden on December 1st and 2nd. The location of the latest concerts is no coincidence, because Kiss was formed in New York in 1973.

"We're finishing where we started," Stanley said on The Howard Stern Show this week. "When you come to see the show, it's amazing. It's definitely a cool rock 'n' roll show. It's all Kiss. Only better. We give it everything we've got."

The band have been on their highly anticipated End of the Road world tour since early 2019, and while a final leg in New York was always the plan, the COVID-19 pandemic forced organizers to change some dates. Original band members Stanley and Simmons are now 71 and 73 years old, respectively. Drummer Peter Criss is 77 years old, and lead guitarist Paul Daniel "Ace" Frehley, who co-founded Kiss, is 71 years old.

"We can't run that long with 40 pounds of gear," Stanley told Rolling Stone. "There's nothing sad about it, it's a celebration with our fans around the world. We wanted to raise the bar again for what the band can do live. It's really what we've always done: We always wanted to be the band that's never been seen. There is there are a lot of shows that have the Kiss DNA in them because before us they weren't anything great."
