Employees of the world-famous publication The New York Times are going to go on strike today at midnight.

According to the initiators of the action, 1100 employees will take part in the strike, most of them journalists. The protest must last 24 hours. The fact is that employees of The New York Times have not been able to sign a new employment contract since March 2021.

Journalists who belong to the union are demanding higher wages, and several activist groups are pushing for the ability to work remotely. However, the management of the publication does not comply with these demands. According to union leaders, the first thing that could be affected is the digital version of the newspaper, which is updated in real time. But the media holding has already announced that breaking news will be written by employees of The New York Times offices in other countries.
