Riots in downtown New York: protesters smash police cars
A protest in Times Square turned into a pogrom. Activists smashed a police car. Several dozen activists also came to the Union Square subway station. Leaders of the BLM movement are protesting there now. Protests and riots in many states are associated with the unintentional police killing of Tyree Nichols. He died at a Memphis hospital.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams issued a special message today: “My message to the city police has been and will be one: show restraint.”
