Democrat Raphael Warnock wins Georgia election
Democrat Raphael Warnock won the election in Georgia and will represent the state in the Senate for another 6 years, giving the Democratic Party an important 51-vote majority in the Senate. His lead over Republican Herschel Walker was 2,8%, or 98 votes, slightly better than his similar result in the 2021 election. Thanks to his second victory (especially in the atmosphere of traditionally unfavorable midterm elections for the ruling party) in an important swing state for Democrats, Warnock is already beginning to be seriously considered as a potential presidential candidate in 2024 if Biden decides not to seek a second term.
