The United States will send 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine
The delivery of Abrams tanks to Ukraine will take “many months,” said White House National Security Council strategic communications coordinator John Kirby. He noted that Leopard tanks will likely be transferred to Ukraine from Germany and its allies in a relatively short time, while American tanks will take longer.
“European allies will probably hand over tanks by then to help them (Ukrainian troops) in the spring and summer. American Abrams tanks will take longer, it will take many more months before they are in place,” Kirby said.
US President Joe Biden also announced that his administration will provide Ukraine with 31 American-made M1 Abrams tanks. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said in an address to citizens that he had asked the West for further arms supplies after another wave of Russian missile attacks.
“This is evil, this Russian aggression can and must be stopped only with the help of adequate Western weapons. Weapons on the battlefield. Weapons that protect our skies,” Zelensky said.
