Zelensky was denied a speech at the Oscars for the second year in a row
As the publication writes, citing sources, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky will not be able to deliver an address at the Oscars for the second year in a row.
“WME (Hollywood acting agency) agent Mike Simpson approached the Academy with a request to include the comedian-turned-politician, but was turned down,” the article says.
The American Film Academy declined to comment. According to the publication, the idea of Zelensky’s performance at the Oscars could have been abandoned due to a decrease in interest among US residents in the topic of Ukraine. Meanwhile, the Academy is not the only group that refused Zelensky. In September, his team approached the Toronto Film Festival about having the president speak via satellite, but they were turned down.
