Trump's tax returns were turned over to Congress

Trump's returns are riddled with dozens of red flags that should have been examined, according to top nonpartisan tax lawyers in Congress: questionable spending on private jets, large unjustified charitable deductions and questionable payments to the former president's children, among others.

Moreover, there is a law on the basis of which the declarations of the president and vice president are automatically subject to audit, but this did not happen. Congressional lawyers also say the declarations reveal information Trump fought to keep secret for years.

It is important to note that the now former head of the IRS, Charles Rettig, was appointed to this position by Trump and it was he who ruled that the president's tax returns were too complex to be audited. Rettig then used his authority as head of the IRS to completely cancel all audits of the president's tax returns.
