Fur ban law goes into effect in California

As of January 1, 2023, fur will no longer be sold in California (the law was passed back in 2019, but only came into effect now). I asked Los Angeles resident Yuna Pugacheva how the situation was there:

“For Angelinos this is not critical. Our winter is rainy, and moths are voracious and invincible. That’s why, for example, in the five years I’ve lived here, I’ve only worn a vintage Marni fur coat once, and that was in honor of the arrival of my Moscow girlfriends. Real fur is favored by rappers and rich old ladies in Rolls-Royces. And, in fact, that’s all. Last year, in the Saint Laurent boutique, I was persuaded “like a Russian” to buy the last (!) in the history of the fashion house, a real rabbit fur coat that mimics a leopard coat, but I was not tempted. But who will definitely celebrate the new law are environmental activists. They regularly attack Rodeo Drive with huge video screens showing animal killings. However, in other states the reaction to the fur situation may be radically different due to the climate - both natural and social. And here it is fashionable to warm up with mushroom cappuccino, and not with fur products.”
