Five women are suing the state of Texas over the suffering they suffered as a result of the abortion ban. They want the court to make it clear exactly what circumstances constitute a legal reason for an abortion.
One of the plaintiffs, Amanda Zurawski, became pregnant after years of struggling with infertility. However, during pregnancy, something went wrong and the doctors said that the child would definitely not survive, and she herself was in danger. However, while the baby’s heart was beating and Amanda herself was in satisfactory condition, the doctors did not give permission for an abortion. It was only after the woman developed sepsis that she underwent surgery, after which she spent several days in intensive care. Zurawski believes that she could have avoided physical and psychological suffering if not for the “barbaric restrictions” of the authorities.
