About 47 million households use gas stoves

In total, about 47 million households, or 38%, use gas stoves in the United States. It’s funny that the highest share of gas stoves is not in the conservative American heartland, but in democratic states like California, Illinois, New Jersey and New York.

When you look at the breakdown by income, on average, the richer an American is, the more likely he or she is to use a gas furnace. It's also worth paying attention to a frightening indicator: among the poorest 10% of Americans, about 10% have no equipment at all with which to cook food.
