New free shelters and centers for immigrants in New York

New York authorities announced that the city is opening two new shelters for immigrants. Let me remind you that since April last year, New York has received more than 50 thousand visitors - most of them came to the metropolis from Texas and Arizona. Anyone seeking asylum in the United States can seek free help from the staff of centers and shelters in New York. Addresses of new shelters: 

  • Candler Tower, 209-213 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036

  • Brooklyn, 455 Jefferson Street 

New York Mayor Eric Adams said that more than $650 million has already been spent on the needs of immigrants. In total, the city must allocate $4,2 billion. List of free shelters and centers in New York: 

1. Women's shelters

  • Franklin Shelter (1122 Franklin Ave., Bronx. Subway: 2/5 to 149th St., then #55 bus to 166th St. &3rd Ave. or the #21 bus to 166th St. & Boston Road)

  • HELP Women's Center (116 Williams Ave., Brooklyn.Subway: C to Liberty Ave)

2. Shelter for men

3. Shelter for families without children

  • Adult Family Intake Center (AFIC) (400-430 East 29th St., Manhattan.Subway: 6 to 28th St.) 

4. Shelter for pregnant women 

  • Prevention Assistance and Temporary Housing Office (PATH) (151 East 151st St., Bronx. Subway: 2, 4 or 5 to 149th St. - Grand Concourse)

5. Shelters and centers for adults 

  • Mainchance (120 East 32nd St. in East Midtown. Subway: 6 to 33rd St.)

  • The Living Room (800 Barretto St., Bronx. Subway: 6 to Hunts Point Ave)

  • Olivieri Center (257 West 30th St. near Penn Station. Subway: 1/2/3/A/C/E to 34th St.- Penn Station)

  • The Gathering Place (2402 Atlantic Ave. in Brooklyn. Subway: A to Broadway Junction)

  • Project Hospitality (25 Central Ave. in Staten Island. Subway: No subway service)
