Biden declares a state of emergency in the Virgin Islands

Laboratory tests by local authorities showed that lead levels in drinking water were 100 times higher than the norm. Joe Biden has declared a state of emergency until the situation is safe for the islanders. High concentrations of the toxic metal in drinking water are most likely due to corrosion of old lead pipes. Authorities have called for people to stop using tap water and temporarily switch to bottled water. In general, the problem of lead in tap water is relevant throughout the United States. The map shows that the most dangerous states in this regard are Florida, New York, California and Arizona.
