The day before, US authorities announced that several cows had become infected with bird flu. Doctors have now confirmed the second case in the country's history of the H5N1 flu being transmitted to humans. This happened in Texas - quite possibly on one of the farms where the cows caught the disease. Authorities said the patient had contact with livestock. The only symptom he complained about was eye inflammation. Doctors began treating him with oseltamivir, a drug used to treat swine flu and forms A and B.

Despite the alarming news, authorities remind that human infection with bird flu is extremely rare.
