Artificial intelligence may displace professional translators from the market by the end of the decade

The Roman company Translated analyzed about two billion translations made by both humans and robots. Professional editors spend one second to edit one word in the text that a person has translated. Previously, machine translations were very far from this indicator.

In 2015, editors spent an average of 3,5 seconds on a machine translation, but now that time is just 2 seconds. That is, the trend is obvious: in a few years, the quality of AI’s work may be comparable to that of a human.

Experts conclude that AI is developing rapidly and in 7 years can become autonomous in many areas - it will not need additional help.
