More than 7% of American adults identify as LGBTQ
7,2% of US adults identify as LGBTQ, up 2012% from the 3,7 survey.
58,2% of them are bisexual, 20,2% are gay, 13,4% are lesbian and 8,8% are transgender.
Among 10 thousand respondents, 86% said they were heterosexual, and 7% chose not to answer the question. People aged 19 to 26 are the most likely to identify as LGBTQ, at 19,7%. The share of Americans aged 27 to 42 years is 11,2%, from 43 to 58 years old – 3,3%, from 59 to 77 years old – 2,7%, from 78 years old and older – 1,7%.
The survey's authors believe the percentage of LGBTQ adults in the United States will continue to rise.
