Residents of California mountains are trapped in snow
Snowfall left skiers and snowboarders stranded at popular resorts in Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear Mountain. People are already without food and important medicines. Networks of state highways and country roads are filled with snow and await clearing. There's already about double the average winter snowfall there, but more snow is expected in Southern California on Saturday. Residents and visitors to several mountain communities, such as Lake Arrowhead, have already been trapped for 9-10 days.
The California National Guard, which arrived in the area Thursday, is going door-to-door to help dig people out.
