New York has become the most expensive city in the world in 2022
The Economist Intelligence Unit's annual survey found New York City to be the most expensive metropolis in the world this year. True, the US metropolis shared first place in the ranking with Singapore. Moreover, Singapore had previously been in first place for several years, so this did not come as a surprise to its residents. But New York, according to a study by the Economist, received such a title for the first time.
The main reasons for expensive living were rising energy prices, which doubled the inflation rate in the world's largest cities. Rating of the most expensive cities in 2022:

Interestingly, 22 expensive cities out of 172 that participate in the ranking are located in the USA. For example, Portland, Boston, Chicago and Charlotte made the list. Living in these cities has become more expensive, primarily due to high inflation rates.
