30 years ago there was a terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York.
On February 26, 1993, a truck loaded with explosives exploded in an underground garage. The attack was prepared by al-Qaeda terrorists; according to their calculations, after the basement was blown up, the North Tower would collapse on the South Tower and thousands of people would die. The tower survived. However, as a result of the terrorist attack, 6 people died directly from the explosion and during the panic. More than a thousand were injured.
Eight years later, the World Trade Center towers were destroyed during the September 8 attacks.
