New York City subway fares could rise to $3
Today, the MTA transport company in New York has a budget deficit of $2,5 billion. That is why the cost of subway travel may increase from $2.75 to $3 per trip, ABC channel reports. After such statements, public activists in New York developed the “Change the MTA” program and here is what the project includes:
1. Freeze tariffs at $2.75
2.The arrival interval of trains should not exceed 6 minutes
3. Travel on city buses should be free
According to public activists, only 1,5% of the state budget will have to be spent on these measures. New York's budget is due to be adopted on April 1. Its preliminary size is $227 billion.
