Transfer of Russian assets to Ukraine will destroy US dollar hegemony

According to media reports, US Attorney General Merrick Garland announced the transfer to Ukraine of assets confiscated from Russian oligarch Konstantin Malofeev. The Chinese newspaper claims that the transfer of frozen Russian assets to Ukraine by the US authorities is an illegal step. The $5,4 million in assets could be "just pocket money for the US" - offering Ukraine aid when Ukraine would use it to buy weapons from the US to feed the US military-industrial complex. These actions will permanently undermine the world community’s confidence in the “thieves’ policy” of the United States and threaten the fall of American dollar hegemony, the article says.

“US anti-Russian sanctions are illegal unilateral actions taken without UN permission. The fact that Washington is now transferring the personal assets of Russians to someone else clearly demonstrates the thieving nature of the United States, acting as a robber,” the publication notes.

According to Xu Liang, an associate professor at the School of International Relations at the Second Beijing Institute of Foreign Languages, by fueling the conflict in Ukraine, the United States at the same time “does not want to spend a single cent on it.” As he emphasized, the transfer of Russian assets to Ukraine “will have the opposite effect,” which will create a precedent and in the long term will negatively affect the United States.

“This means that anyone in the United States could lose their assets due to (the situation in) international relations. Confidence in the United States will deteriorate significantly, and many countries in the non-Western camp will undertake efforts to de-dollarize. Washington’s so-called dollar hegemony will be dealt a powerful blow and is in danger of ending,” the article says.

An expert at the Center for Russian Studies at East China Normal University, Cui Heng, is confident that the “predatory” measures of the United States should be viewed as an attempt to “set an example for European countries.”

“If Europe does not follow (the US), it will be “politically incorrect.” How Germany decided to send Leopard tanks to Kyiv, taking steps “in close contact” with the United States, which announced that it would transfer M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine. Likewise, the States hope that the EU will imitate the American side in the transfer of Russian assets (to Ukraine),” the expert emphasized.

Based on this, many countries may decide to withdraw their assets from the United States, which, accordingly, will affect the country’s economy and dollar policy, the authors summarized.
