US citizens currently in Russia should immediately leave the country, according to a warning issued by the embassy
The embassy believes that Russian authorities may refuse to recognize dual citizenship for Americans in Russia, deprive them of access to US consular assistance, as well as subject them to mobilization and prevent them from leaving the country.
“If you want to leave Russia, you should take independent measures as soon as possible. The U.S. Embassy has serious limitations in its ability to help U.S. citizens leave the country, and travel options may suddenly become even more limited,” the statement said.
