The Catholic Diocese of San Diego faces bankruptcy

Recently, California authorities abolished the statute of limitations for criminal cases involving violence against minors. More than 400 lawsuits were immediately filed against the city diocese. The alleged crimes were committed 50-75 years ago. The earliest dates back to 1945.

Bishop Robert McElroy told parishioners that the diocese faces “staggering costs” and faces bankruptcy. At the same time, he emphasized that there is not a single lawsuit against current priests.
