A jury found New York resident Angela Pollina guilty of torturing and killing an 8-year-old child.

Long Island prosecutors were able to convince jurors that Angela Pollina abused a child with autism. The indictment states that stepmother Angela Pollina and her husband locked their 8-year-old child in the garage for several hours in the winter, ABC reports. The child repeatedly suffered from hypothermia, which ultimately led to the student’s death.

The child's natural father and former police officer was sentenced to 25 years in prison last December. The woman faces 25 years to life in prison. The verdict in this case is due on April 11.
