Massive layoffs of teachers in the USA: the main reason is the consequences of the pandemic
Chalkbeat researchers conducted an analysis of teacher layoffs in eight states, including Washington, Maryland, and Louisiana. The exodus of educators from educational institutions in some states has broken 30-year records. The situation is especially alarming in North Carolina: they are seeing layoffs in the middle of the school year.
After the pandemic, the educational process has changed dramatically: some schoolchildren have completely lost interest in learning, and teachers have received enormous stress due to pressure from management regarding their performance. Many schools are facing a pedagogical crisis. Baltimore (Maryland) elementary school principal Benjamin Mosley says it is now easier to put a man on the moon than to find a qualified teacher.
