Year of war in Ukraine: support rally at the UN building in New York
More than a hundred people came to the UN building in New York today. Russian-speaking residents of the city are demanding to stop the war that Putin unleashed exactly a year ago. On February 24, 2022, a full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops began.
The UN adopted a resolution calling on Russia to stop any military actions. Also, Russian troops must leave Ukrainian lands, the resolution says. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky called this decision “a powerful signal of global support.” Among the 193 UN member countries, 141 countries voted for the resolution, and 7 voted against it. These are Russia, Belarus, Syria, North Korea, Eritrea, Nicaragua and Mali.
