The US is ready to help Kyiv strike Crimea
According to the publication, the United States is ready to help Ukraine target Crimea and strike the peninsula, even if such a move increases the risk of escalation.
As stated in the material, the Biden administration does not believe that Ukraine is capable of returning Crimea by military means, but is convinced that if it is put at risk, this will strengthen Kyiv’s position in possible negotiations with Moscow.
Officials believe that attacks on military targets in the Russian rear, including bases and warehouses on the peninsula, will significantly affect the army’s ability to advance on the fronts.
“Without Crimea, everything would fall apart,” said Evelyn Farkas, the Pentagon's top Ukraine official during the Obama administration.
The publication reports that new military assistance, which includes Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and HIMARS missiles, could help Ukraine develop a counteroffensive in the Zaporozhye direction and capture Melitopol and Mariupol.
