The US Treasury announced a list of anti-Russian sanctions
New US anti-Russian sanctions:
-The United States will introduce a 10% duty on imports of aluminum and aluminum products from Russia from March 200;
-US authorities file a lawsuit to confiscate the property of Russian businessman Vekselberg for $75 million;
-The United States admits that the Russian economy demonstrates “a certain resistance” to Western sanctions thanks to Moscow’s extraordinary steps;
-The US Treasury also introduced a new package of sanctions against Russian citizens and organizations. The restrictions included:
1. Enterprises of the mining sector;
2. Companies in the Russian aerospace sector;
3. Manufacturer of Zircon hypersonic missiles NPO Mashinostroyenia and a number of companies of the Rosatom corporation;
4. Three All-Russian Scientific Research Institutes and the Directorate of Deep Sea Research of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation
5.Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant.
New US sanctions included 22 individuals and 83 legal entities, including heads of Russian regions, executives and entrepreneurs: Head of the Ministry of Energy Shulginov, Minister of Culture Lyubimova, Minister of Sports Matytsin, Minister of Labor Kotyakov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Golikova, Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Kurenkov, Acting Head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik, as well as over 1,2 thousand Russian military personnel for the threat attributed to them to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The US Treasury also imposed sanctions on a number of Russian banks: Uralsib, Zenit, Moscow Credit Bank, MTS Bank, Lanta Bank, Metallinvestbank, Levoberezhny, St. Petersburg, Primorye, SDM-Bank, Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Sanctions provide for restrictions on a number of transactions with these financial institutions. The Ministry of Finance published a general license requiring the completion of financial transactions with these banks by May 25, 2023.
Statements by American politicians on the conflict in Ukraine:
▪️The United States believes that an immediate truce in Ukraine will only lead to the strengthening and rearmament of Russia, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said;
▪️The United States believes that peace in Ukraine based on the recognition of new territories joining Russia will not be sustainable, he said at a meeting of the UN Security Council;
▪️The United States is ready to participate in any substantive diplomatic efforts to establish peace in Ukraine, Blinken said.
▪️The United States does not have confirmation of a possible armed invasion of Ukraine in Transnistria, said the American Ambassador in Chisinau Kent Logsdon;
▪️Peace initiatives in Ukraine should first of all take into account the point of view of Kyiv, the White House commented on China’s plan.
