Feces, viruses and fungi: scientists warn about the dangers of public hot tubs

Relaxing in the company of friends in choppy waters is a great idea for many, but British scientists are warning about the dangers of such a holiday. When a person enters a jacuzzi, he automatically brings with him about 100 mg of feces between the buttocks, sweat, various bacteria, fungi and viruses. People rarely wash before taking a bubbling bath, and the water itself is not disinfected as often as necessary.

Chlorine is usually used to disinfect water in a Jacuzzi, but it is also unsafe, as it causes irritation of all mucous membranes. Scientists give advice: if you smell a strong and unpleasant odor in your hot tub, it means there is a lot of chloramine, a substance that is released when chlorine reacts with bodily fluids and bacteria. You cannot swim in such water.
