Treasures of Asian Art at Asia Week New York 2023

Asia Week New York has been attracting discerning collectors and connoisseurs of the rarest and finest examples of Asian porcelain, jewelry, textiles, paintings, ceramics and sculptures from around the Asian world for the past fourteen years. Twenty-six international galleries and six auction houses (Bonhams, Christie's, Doyle, Heritage, Gavel and Sotheby's) will open their doors for Asia Week New York 2023 from 16 to 24 March. The exhibition will feature the most interesting exhibits that cannot be missed. Among them are unique relics: ancient manuscripts, painted porcelain, golden Buddha statues. The most valuable lot is a bronze wine vessel from the Shang Dynasty; according to experts, it was probably created in the XNUMXth century BC. Thousands of art and antiques were put up for auction, the total value of which, according to preliminary estimates, exceeds one hundred million dollars.

“We are delighted to launch Asia Week New York, which provides a rich cultural experience for Asian art lovers of all stripes, and we are extremely proud to continue to celebrate the diversity of Asian art in all its glorious forms,” said Dessa Goddard, Chair of Asia. Week New York.

The Spring Chinese Porcelain Exhibition features an extremely rare Tibetan-style porcelain wine glass decorated with scenes of Taoist immortals. Nearby are the works of a Chinese artist, a reformer of calligraphy who turned a thousand-year-old tradition into a practice that reflects modern life. The exhibition "Spring of Many Colors" features new landscape and flower paintings by Taiwanese artist Peng Kanglong and portraits by Li Jin from Tianjin. Li Jin shows the world portraits of New York and Los Angeles residents created during his pre-COVID trips to the US.

In addition to auctions and exhibitions, films, lectures and tours dedicated to Asian themes will be shown throughout the week in New York.
