The premiere of the play “Viy” took place in November.

The Russian Art Studio Theater has joined forces with West Park in a joint production of Nikolai Gogol's Viy. Famous director Alexei Burago has staged Gogol's most beloved horror story in the historical and hauntingly beautiful space "The Shelter".

Based on a Ukrainian folk tale, Gogol's Viy tells the story of three wandering university students - a theologian, a rhetorician and a philosopher. They are looking for accommodation for the night in the old woman's house. This woman, a witch who is also a werewolf, leads the young philosopher Khoma Brutus on a journey that involves him in a confrontation with the formidable "Viy".

The play is performed in English with the participation of actors: Albert Baker, Michael Anne Hoffert-Kone, Louise Menzen, Elena Mindlina, Sarah O'Donnell, Tom Schubert and Di Zhu. Part of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Save the Children Ukraine fund.
