San Francisco proposes to distribute $5 million to black citizens
The reparations committee wants to pay black residents of the city $5 million each as compensation for racist policies towards them in the past. To receive money, citizens must meet a number of requirements. A black resident must be over 18 years old, be born or migrate to the city between 1940 and 1996, and have lived in San Francisco for at least 13 years. Even if at least 10 thousand locals meet these requirements, it will cost the city $50 billion.
In addition, black residents want to write off debts and increase their guaranteed annual income to $97 thousand.
