The French were offended by American beer and ordered the destruction of more than 2300 cans

France's Champagne Committee said American beer Miller High Life violated the "protected definition" of champagne and ordered Belgian customs officials to destroy 2352 cans of the beer. The committee targeted the beer because of its slogan: "Champagne among beers." Belgian customs officers completely recognized the beer as “counterfeit.” It's worth noting that Miller High Life got its slogan about 100 years ago, but modern European regulations require that the words "champagne" and "sparkling wine" only be used for wines produced in France.
