American toy giant Mattel has previously been criticized for the fact that traditional Barbie does not resemble real women. The company's goal was for "all children to see themselves in Barbie" and to "play with dolls that don't look like themselves." Mattel has previously marketed dolls with hearing aids, prosthetic limbs, and wheelchairs.
