New trash rules come into effect in New York

New York City sanitation officials have determined which areas of the city have the cleanest and dirtiest streets. Statistics are provided by NBC. So, a perfectly clean area was assessed on a 100% system, that is, if your area is impeccably clean, then you get 100%. Not only sidewalks, but also roads were assessed.

Four districts scored more than 90% in the clean roads category. The exception was the Bronx, which received 89,7%. When it comes to sidewalks, the Bronx was again the only borough to score 93,9% in this category. In Brooklyn, only 9,8% of streets are considered dirty. Staten Island was the cleanest. And Manhattan has the cleanest sidewalks, according to new data. On average, 93,6% of city streets are now considered clean in New York City. Last December, that number was only 88,5%.

Let me remind you that on April 1, new garbage disposal rules came into force in New York:

  • You can only throw garbage into containers after 6 pm
  • Garbage bags can only be left on the sidewalk after 8 p.m.
  • homeowners can throw out garbage at night or early in the morning: from 4 to 7 a.m.
