Novatek manager accused of hiding assets in the US

A Florida jury found Novatek Deputy Chairman of the Board Mark Anthony Jetway guilty of concealing foreign assets and providing false information to the US Internal Revenue Service.

Jetway was born in New Jersey in 1957. In 1995 he moved to Moscow. He was a partner at PwC Global Energy, heading the department for coordinating services for fuel and energy and mining enterprises in Russia. In 2007, he was elected a member of the board of Novatek, and since July 2010, he has been deputy chairman of the board of the company. In July 2019, he received Russian citizenship. According to investigators, from 2005 to 2016, Jetvey hid assets in offshore jurisdictions. He submitted false declarations to the tax service, where he indicated his wife, who has Russian citizenship, as the beneficiary of the assets. He did not admit guilt. Now he faces prison terms on several charges: concealment of foreign assets; making false statements to the US Internal Revenue Service; evasion of transfer of tax returns.

Sentencing is scheduled for September 21, 2023.
