Oregon wants to fine people who chase away homeless people

Oregon officials have introduced a bill that would decriminalize homeless encampments in public places. It will also give homeless people the opportunity to sue anyone who harasses them or tells them to leave the area. In this case, the fine for the defendant will be $1.

Residents of the state did not like this initiative, as they believe that homeless people are the main reason for the outflow of the population.

“We cannot give these people legal protections so they can do whatever they want in our public spaces and deny our citizens their own rights to use those same spaces,” said Portland resident Carlene Scott.
