FDA warns of skin cancer risk from breast implants
The FDA has received 19 reports of skin cancer developing after breast augmentation surgery. Among the known cases there are also deaths. The causes and risk factors for developing squamous cell carcinoma in the scar tissue that remains after surgery are unknown.
The Aesthetic Society estimates that 2021 breast augmentation surgeries were performed in the United States in 365.
