Former President Donald Trump's tax returns will be released Friday
A congressional committee received copies of the returns last month as part of its investigation into Trump's taxes, after a lengthy legal battle that ended with the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in the committee's favor.
Last week, the committee released a report of its findings, saying the IRS violated its own rules by failing to audit Trump during three of his four years in office. Trump's tax returns were not released with the report last week because they contained sensitive information that needed to be redacted before release, committee members said. The documents, which will be released Friday, are expected to include Trump's tax returns filed between 2015 and 2021, when he ran for and served as president.
Trump was the first presidential candidate in decades not to release his tax returns in either of his presidential campaigns.
