The European Union imposed a record fine on Meta

Meta must pay $1,3 billion for failing to respect user privacy, the Irish Data Protection Commission, which regulates the company's activities in the EU, has decided. By October of this year, Zuckerberg's brainchild must ensure that the personal data of Europeans is not transferred to servers in the United States. Meta considers the decision to be erroneous and plans to appeal. The company claims that this fine is a bad precedent for other companies that transfer data between the US and Europe. This fine was a record: the previous “achievement” belongs to Amazon - the European Union fined the company 746 million euros for violating the protection of customer data.
