How does the electronic visa-free entry permit system work?
Foreign nationals eligible for visa-free entry into the United States must still obtain approval from the Electronic System for Visa-Exempt Travel Authorization (ESTA). Interaction with it occurs online via the Internet. It is operated by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP). ESTA began functioning in 2009. Each Visa Waiver Program participant must register and be approved by the Visa Waiver Program before traveling to the United States without a visa. Typically, an ESTA approval is valid for 24 months. However, it may end faster in the following cases:

The validity period of your foreign passport has come to an end;

the applicant has changed his first name, last name or gender;

citizenship changed.
During the entire period during which the ESTA approval is valid (usually 2 years), the foreigner can visit the United States any number of times. The main thing is that each trip does not exceed 90 days.
