US Immigration and Customs Enforcement mistakenly posted online data on 6 asylum seekers, including Russians

ICE mistakenly released an Excel spreadsheet containing the personal information of asylum seekers online, NBC reported. There were 6252 immigrants on the list. Within 11 minutes, employees noticed the leak and deleted the data from the Internet. The department also said that information from those who are currently in immigration detention has been leaked online. Thus, the names of people who illegally arrived in the United States in the hope of political asylum were “declassified.” Among them are citizens of Russia, Iran and China.

Human Rights First said such a mistake could lead to persecution of relatives of asylum seekers in the United States. ICE is currently conducting an investigation.
