Bad weather in California destroyed future harvest

California produces almost half of all vegetables, fruits and berries in the United States, and the state ranks first in growing strawberries, raspberries, lettuce, broccoli and cauliflower - Monterey County alone, which is called the “salad bowl,” brings in $4 billion in annual income. Weeks of continuous storms led to flooding: water inundated huge planted fields. At the same time, re-planting is problematic due to soil moisture.

Experts believe that all this will lead to serious consequences for the fruit and vegetable market. Most likely, prices for the same strawberries will increase greatly until farmers are able to restore fields and plant a new crop - and in some regions this may not happen until closer to winter.
