Experts have compiled a rating of the most affordable suburbs located adjacent to megacities
Real estate company Point2 has ranked the most affordable suburbs within 30 miles of big cities like New York, Miami and Boston.
Medley (Florida) tops the rankings. It's a 20-minute drive from Miami, but the price per square foot of real estate here is 65% higher.
Point2 identified 11 suburbs where the price per square foot of property was 60-65% lower than the neighboring metropolitan area, and 67 where prices were 50-59% lower. Most of them are located on the east coast. In addition, Point2 compiled a ranking of the most expensive real estate markets. Topping the list are Irvine, San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles and Oakland, all in California.
